Admiration or Adoration of Christ?

Church historian Philip Schaff (1819-1893) wrote the following helpful reminder:

From the earliest record Christ was the object not of admiration which is given to finite persons and things, and presupposes equality, but of prayer, praise and adoration which is due only to an infinite, uncreated, divine being. (History of the Christian Church, 2:545)
